General Manager of ReachTop Container House

Michael Zhang

Michael Zhang joined Shandong Reachtop Steel Structure Co., Ltd. in 2017 and was appointed General Manager in 2023. He now oversees the company’s overall operations, including international business, manufacturing coordination, quality management and long-term development.

Born in Shandong, China, in 1990, Michael earned a master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Dalian University of Technology. After graduation, he joined ReachTop and began working directly with international buyers on container house and modular building projects.

His approachable manner, structured thinking and strong English communication skills helped him build trust across different markets. During his first year with the company, he secured an overseas order valued at more than RMB 5 million.

Since becoming General Manager, Michael has led ReachTop’s transition from a traditional manufacturing and export business toward a more structured and internationally oriented organization. His work has focused on strengthening production consistency, technical coordination, quality control, customer communication and global market development.

His objective is not simply to sell more container houses, but to provide efficient, comfortable and cost-effective spaces for practical use—whether for a large project camp, a temporary office, a commercial facility or a private living space.

As the head of a growing manufacturing company, Michael remains closely involved in selected customer projects and continues to handle part of the company’s international business personally. Working directly with buyers, engineers and production teams helps him maintain a clear understanding of changing market expectations and the practical challenges that arise between design, manufacturing, delivery and local installation.

Although Michael generally keeps a low public profile, he makes an exception for this website. To help more people understand China’s container house industry and ReachTop, he publishes articles here under his own name. Some are written by Michael directly, while others are prepared by ReachTop’s marketing team, but all are reviewed and approved by him before publication.

Modular building describes how a building is made. Portable building describes its ability to be moved. A building can be both modular and portable, so these are not two separate product categories with a clear line between them. For buyers, the useful questions are how the building is constructed, how it will travel and whether it…

A portable building is a building that can be transported to a project site for use. It may arrive as a complete room built in a factory, or as prefabricated frames and wall panels for assembly on site. Offices, accommodation units, security cabins, and toilet and shower blocks can all be supplied this way. The…

A mobile home is a prefabricated house that can still be moved after it has been manufactured or while it is in use. Homes converted from shipping containers, factory-built container homes, trailer homes and capsule houses all fall within the broader mobile home category. Modular homes are slightly different. Although they are also manufactured in…

Why can two factory quotations for a 20ft expandable container house differ by several thousand dollars? This is one of the most confusing questions for buyers entering the market. The difference does not necessarily mean that one supplier is reasonable and the other is not. More often, the two factories are using the same product…

If you are looking for a 2 bedroom container house, creating the second bedroom is not the difficult part. In most modular systems, it simply requires enough floor area and an additional partition. The more important questions are price, usable width and the type of building system. A layout may show two bedrooms on paper,…

China’s container house industry is not simply a business built around converting retired shipping containers. In China, container house has become a market term for a wider family of transportable steel-framed units: products manufactured in a factory, shipped as complete modules or compressed component sets, and assembled or unfolded for offices, accommodation, clinics, commercial spaces and…
