General Manager of ReachTop Container House

Michael Zhang

Michael Zhang joined Shandong Reachtop Steel Structure Co., Ltd. in 2017 and was appointed General Manager in 2023. He now oversees the company’s overall operations, including international business, manufacturing coordination, quality management and long-term development.

Born in Shandong, China, in 1990, Michael earned a master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Dalian University of Technology. After graduation, he joined ReachTop and began working directly with international buyers on container house and modular building projects.

His approachable manner, structured thinking and strong English communication skills helped him build trust across different markets. During his first year with the company, he secured an overseas order valued at more than RMB 5 million.

Since becoming General Manager, Michael has led ReachTop’s transition from a traditional manufacturing and export business toward a more structured and internationally oriented organization. His work has focused on strengthening production consistency, technical coordination, quality control, customer communication and global market development.

His objective is not simply to sell more container houses, but to provide efficient, comfortable and cost-effective spaces for practical use—whether for a large project camp, a temporary office, a commercial facility or a private living space.

As the head of a growing manufacturing company, Michael remains closely involved in selected customer projects and continues to handle part of the company’s international business personally. Working directly with buyers, engineers and production teams helps him maintain a clear understanding of changing market expectations and the practical challenges that arise between design, manufacturing, delivery and local installation.

Although Michael generally keeps a low public profile, he makes an exception for this website. To help more people understand China’s container house industry and ReachTop, he publishes articles here under his own name. Some are written by Michael directly, while others are prepared by ReachTop’s marketing team, but all are reviewed and approved by him before publication.

Comparing EPS and rock wool panels without first matching their specifications is not a serious comparison. Most online answers stop at a few simple conclusions: rock wool provides better fire protection, while EPS is lighter, cheaper or more environmentally friendly. These statements may be directionally useful, but they are not enough for selecting wall panels…

A detachable container house and a flat pack container house can look almost identical after installation. They may use the same wall panels, doors, windows, floor finishes, insulation and electrical systems. This is why many buyers find the two products difficult to distinguish. Even some Chinese suppliers use the two terms interchangeably. The main difference…

Waterproofing is one of the most important—and most frequently misunderstood—parts of a detachable container house. Almost every supplier claims that its container houses will not leak. However, buyers still receive buildings with water entering through the roof, upper corners, wall joints, doors or windows. The usual explanation is “the sealant failed.” In reality, sealant failure…

“An expandable house is just a metal box. There is no chance it can receive Class 1a approval.” “Expandable houses made by Chinese factories are not compliant. The only way to avoid approval is to place the house on a trailer and treat it as a movable dwelling.” For years, statements like these were repeated…

Two detachable container houses can look almost identical in photos while differing significantly in price, structural performance and service life. From ReachTop’s experience on the factory floor and across 14 years of modular building projects, main-frame thickness is usually one of the largest factors affecting the price and quality of a detachable container house. However,…

A 40HQ container can normally load about 14–18 complete sets of detachable container houses. ReachTop generally uses 17 sets per 40HQ as the preliminary reference for a standard configuration. The final quantity depends on total weight, frame specifications, wall panels, bathrooms, additional roof components and the packing arrangement. You may have noticed that different ReachTop…
